The 11th batch of the Skill ‘G’ Add-Ons (SKAD) initiative is back, aiming to bolster technical expertise among lecturers and technologists from Nigerian tertiary institutions. SKAD, a collaboration between TETFund and Skill ‘G’ Nigeria Limited, seeks to empower lecturers and academic technologists with the knowledge and skills required to use and maintain advanced equipment supplied to their schools by TETFund.
SKAD 11: Empowering SET Education in Nigeria
The latest group of SKAD 11 participants hails from universities in North-East Nigeria, including:
Yobe State University, Damaturu
Federal University Wukari, Taraba
Taraba State University
Gombe State University
Federal University Kashere, Gombe
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi
Bauchi State University
University Of Maiduguri, Borno
These participants will undergo training in the usage and maintenance of TETFund-sponsored equipment. SKAD offers four distinct tracks, which are:

Mechatronics
Electronics
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC)
Skill “G” and TETFund: SKAD Opening Event
On the 23rd of October, 2023, SKAD 11 kicked off with a grand opening event. The event was skillfully moderated by Engr. Okolie Chijioke Sampson, the Project Manager of Skill “G”. It began with the national anthem and the recitation of the pledge, setting a patriotic tone for the proceedings. The moderator introduced the SKAD initiative and extended gratitude to TETFund, led by the impactful Executive Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono.

All 32 participants at SKAD 11 eagerly introduced themselves, their respective institutions, and the specific tracks they were part of under SKAD. Following this, the instructors representing each track were introduced:

The TETFund Skill ‘G’ Add-Ons (SKAD) program marked the successful conclusion of its 10th Batch, bringing together a diverse group of educators and technologists.
The TETFund Skill ‘G’ Add-Ons (SKAD) capacity-building training began its 10th cohort on 16th October, 2023.
This edition features the training of 32 lecturers and technologists from various universities across South-Eastern Nigeria in the area of Science Education Technology (SET) with respect to fields of Autotronics, Mechatronics, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning (RAC), and Electronics.
The TETFund Skill ‘G’ Add-Ons (SKAD) capacity-building initiative began its 9th edition on 10th October 2023.
SKAD 9 has a primary objective of imparting essential skills to 32 lecturers and technologists hailing from universities sponsored by TETFund throughout Nigeria.
The TETFund Skill ‘G’ add-ons (SKAD) training program celebrated the successful conclusion of its 8th batch today.
SKAD 8 focused on equipping 32 lecturers and technologists from TETFund-sponsored universities across Nigeria with the skills necessary for the operation and maintenance of equipment provided to their institutions by TETFund. The primary emphasis was on Science Education and Training (SET).

In this 7th edition, SKAD has expanded its reach to a hybrid of universities and polytechnics, signaling a shift from previous editions, which exclusively catered to lecturers and technologists in polytechnics; and ushering in a new wave of batches, specifically catering to members of Academia from Universities.
